Below the results
of lab tests on power loss on a leading polycarbonate lens and a new
RESOLUTION lens (-4.00 power lenses). The power maps show the difference
between lens prescription and actual power accuracy throughout the
lens.
Power measurements
were made in polar coordinates across the aperture of the lens blanks.
Measurements were made in 11 points on a straight line from side to
side, at 18-degree increments for a total of 110 measurements in the
aperture. These measurements were then translated into a graphical
representation shown below.
Lab tests indicate
that there is a direct correlation between increased stress/birefringence
and the increased irregularity of the power of the stressed region
of the lens. New RESOLUTION lenses are made using new technology which
does not rely on injection molding, a process that introduces stress
into the lens. Therefore with RESOLUTION lenses power accuracy can
be achieved to a remarkable -.02 throughout the entire lens. The power
you prescribe, is the power your patient gets.
